To: Sue in UK and all Dubs
by Amazing insue: you commented to my post about elders sins, by saying that the co may have been giving his own opinion.
the typical jw response is to always direct the problems identified to some individual or to some local problems not common among other jws.
here are some important points that you and other dubs need to understand:.

Amazing,
I remember writing this example verbatem as you have described when I served as an elder atttending the KM school out here on the east coast in the early 90's. "What the HELL is this all about?" was my initial reaction. Looking back, the whole experience was surreal. Never looked at the Society in the same light again. And with your corobboration, it is clear that this was NOT the opinion of a rogue CO.

Would Bobby Grimsley be related to Ray Grimsley?
Ray was a "technician" at the farm, and he married
a very nice pioneer sister from my congregation named Irene.
They served a few years at Bethel together, and then came
back to live in the area.thanks,

MORE ON WHY THE PRESENT SYSTEM IS DOOMED!

Reality is a hard thing to keep at bay. Yet, many apparently prefer to live in a make-believe world, and so they readily embrace delusions for their own emotional comfort. Anything that seems to threaten the security of their Watchtower fantasyland is dismissed, ignored, or ridiculed. While it can readily be proven that such popular delusions eventually lead to calamity, those who are adverse to the truth are doomed to suffer the penalty. The most common delusion of JW's is that this system is going to end soon.
Wow YK, you make this sooo easy!

troubled [in need of answers]
by zev intoday, i had a long, long talk with my employer.
this person is some one who can seperate work and personal things, so after feeling like i needed to talk to someone, and soon, before i crack up, i went to her and dropped the bomb.
she is not a witness, and because i cannot talk to a witness about what i have learned, for fear of the df'ing thingy, i feel safe in talking to her.

Do I fear death?
While I was still in, of course. The thought of somehow being such a terrible person as to not merit a ressurection kept me awake more than a few nights. In the 3 years I've been out, I'm much more comfortable with the whole idea. I don't have a firm conviction that there will be any ressurection, or afterlife for anyone. Having that view, when I'm dead, I'm asleep, and really won't know it. There's no reason for fear in that situation, at least for me.
Now, that's not to say I'm not uneasy about the whole idea. I think of the loved ones left behind, and the pain it will cause. But I also consider this view to be a very positive motivating factor. Since this life is all I have, every day has to count. I'm constantly re-assesing how I'm living my life, and treating others. That is extremely different than the mode of life I lived in the tower, putting the important things and relationships on hold, not feeling that I had to lift a finger to make this world a better place. I was merely existing, going thru the motions.....not really living at all. Sure, I was active as a JW in JW activities, thought I was doing good, but looking back on it all, I have to admit that fear was a huge motivational factor. Add to that too, the burning desire to save my own ass when the_loving_god killed the majority of the earth's population.
Since death is inevitable, when it comes, my goal is to have no regrets, and acccept it. After all, it is a part of life.

How does the DF process begin??
by Camay inquestion its seems like for the past 3 weeks by jw boyfriend stays.
after the bible meetings for a long time.
last week they kept him.

Camay,
The other posters have given you a pretty good idea of why he's been late at the meetings. I hope you don't mind if I add something to the discussion.
As long as he either stays a JW, or tries to get back in if he is DF'd, your needs and opinions will always take a backseat to those of the tower. If you eventually marry(which I would guess is the ONLY way he could be a JW and retain any kind of relationship with you), you can expect to be the subject of recruitment, sometimes subtle, sometimes overt, but always there. And you will be looked upon as spiritually defective - perhaps not by him, but by most of his JW friends.
Is this the circle of people you want in your life?
As I mentioned on another thread you started, I feel for the time lost that you've put into the relationship. Cutting your losses now will give you the oportunity to develop a relationship that you deserve, and save you from years of heartache.
All my best,

Each day with JW boyfriend....
by Camay inis becoming more & more intolerable, this fool has now taken.
to sleeping on the sofa and thinks he will be able to get a apartment.
with horrible credit.. i am trying not to become bitter and mean but its very hard, to see a grown man whine about his "soul" and the more i think about it.

Camay,
JW's are conditioned to think of the organization as their "mother". Let's face it - your boyfriend is a mama's boy. And to him, this mama holds the power of life and death over him. Your instincts are right on. Don't expect it to get any better. Fully expect it to get worse. I feel for the time you have invested with this guy. You have now officially joined the ranks of us who have lost numerous years to this pathetic and dangerous cult.
